March's Meeting

Jessica Grady, our tutor for this month's Grassington Embroiderers' Guild workshop, "Decorative Embroidery and Embellishment with Recycled Materials", arrived with boxes of recycled embellishments for us to incorporate into our work.
Jessica guided the group through some of the basics for textile art, starting with looking at colour and pattern, and then incorporating stitch and embellishments onto the design. She continued to inspire the group by describing the huge array of materials that could be used to create our own unique creations.  We created sequins and beads from recycled waste materials such as plastic packaging, fabric scraps, painted washers, and plastic tubing. As well as producing a piece of textured embroidery, we have now been inspired to continue to produce from our waste plastic and packaging, a wealth of recycled embellishments for future work.  Thank you for the inspiration Jessica, a wonderful workshop.
